Losing Mark so soon after Thor was little bit too much for me when I played this.
For about a month after battling Blue I just randomly roamed around Kanto and Johto, trained the team little bit and so on. It really never went anywhere since I had lost my secret weapon against Red's Lapras: all in my team, excluding Taichi, were weak to ice or water. And knowing how damn strong Red is (being the only thing I never defeated when I played Crystal) I just didn't want to risk Taichi by sending him against Lapras without any super effective attacks against it. So I was kind of stuck.
But then, one day, I realized something: I hadn't visited Cerulean Cave yet. So I went there, and at first I explored that place with repels on...until I decided to try and see what I can get from there. Since it was Wednesday, the Hoenn Sound was playing in the radio. I put it on, and ran into a wild Pokémon...
A Makuhita. A frikking Makuhita. A frikking fighting type.
There's not words to tell how damn happy I was. So I caught Edmund, a frikking Makuhita with Thick Fat, making all fire and ice moves ineffective (so perfect against Red's Lapras and it's 100% accuracy Blizzard). A fighting type who could also handle Red's Snorlax.
It was just too perfect.
Only downside was Edmund's nature: Timid. Still, he had better attack stat than anyone else in team.
